The Simple Woman's Daybook

For today......Monday, July 9, 2012

Outside my window....the sun is brightly shining today.  The forecast is for 101 degrees, it is 56 degrees right now.  The forecasts for rest of the week look to be the same or higher!

I am thinking.....we had a very nice weekend.  William and I went out to a late breakfast on Saturday morning, and then to the farmer's market.  (I love the farmer's market!)  We bought yummy fruit and veggies for the week.   Saturday afternoon was very relaxing!   Sunday was also nice and relaxing.  I couldn't ask for a better weekend! :)

In the kitchen...I actually made a menu plan for this week...yay!  I don't know why it is so hard for me to do a menu plan every week!  (It makes my life so much easier!)  Michelle is working tonight, and on the nights she's gone I try to fix a meal that she doesn't like.  So tonight I'm fixing a zucchini and pasta dish and a big green salad.

I am wearing.....blue denim skirt, gray short sleeved shirt, barefoot.

I am going... no where today!  I plan on staying pretty close to home all this week, unless Mom has to go to the lab.

I am reading.....a book called Colorado, by Rosie Dow.

I am hearing.....the house is very quiet right now, so I'm hearing just the fans that are running.  William has gone to take Dad to  the lab at the VA hospital,  and Michelle has already left for school.  So I'm here by myself, in  a quiet house, which I love!  A house that also needs to be cleaned very soon.... :)

Around the house......I'm cleaning the house today.  I also want to clean out our storage cupboard in the garage one morning this week (before the day gets too hot).  And maybe (possibly) declutter a couple of cupboards in the kitchen that need it. I've been putting that job off, and will be happy to have it done!

One of my favorite things......enjoying a clean house!  ♥

A few plans for the rest of the week....we are supposed to be babysitting Parker tomorrow and Wednesday for a few hours each day.  Megan and Ric have some projects they want to accomplish at home and asked if we would watch Parker.  Though Megan called yesterday and said he is sick with the stomach flu, so the plans may be changed if he's not feeling well. :(  Poor little guy!  We are hoping it is only a 24 hour bug.  I"ll call today to see how he is doing.

A peek into my day....a few of photos from my Mom's birthday party on July 4th.

Parker, me, and my nephew Joe.

My mom...the birthday girl.  She looks so pretty in pink.  :)

My Dad

Parker enjoying his wading pool in the backyard.  ♥

Parker has discovered the garden hose, and is fascinated by it!  ;)

Beautiful daisies for a simple centerpiece (and birthday confetti).

The birthday cakes, a strawberry shortcake,
and chocolate strawberry shortcake.  They
were both delicious!   :)

  4. Hi Susan!

It is really hot here too! We are suppose to hit almost 100 degrees this week - I think it that way all over the country! We need to pray for cooler weather.

It sounds like you are keeping busy with life and family! Parker is getting so big . . . and more adorable as the days go by!

Happy late birthday to your beautiful mother! The cakes look delicious, of course anything with chocolate and strawberries has to be wonderful!!

    Have a wonderful week!

  6. Hi Susan, I love coming by and getting caught up; you are one busy gal. It's been in the 100's here too but we get the humidity. Loved seeing the family pics-especially of your mom & dad(you are so blessed that you still have them). Parker is so cute, especially looking at the hose. What yummy desserts-again you are lucky you can have them; somehow gluten free never looks as good as regular.
    Hugs today.

  7. Hi Susan, I've gotten behind with reading blogs and have enjoyed catching up. It is so nice to see pics of your mom and dad and you and Parker. Your mom looks very happy and the cakes are so pretty. I can remember my nephews loved to play in the water. Parker is just a delight. We are still suffering with extreme HEAT but rain is in the forecast. Blessings to you all and I hope Parker is feeling better today.
