Every Christian can preach sermons. Every Christian can preach sermons every day, at home and among neighbors and friends by the beauty of holiness in his own common life. Wherever a true Christian goes, his life ought to be an inspiration. Our silent influence ought to touch other lives with blessing shining like holy lamps into sad and weary hearts. Our lives ought to be blessings to human sorrow and need all about us.
In Green Pastures, by J. R. Miller, 1890

so true and something that i have been thinking a lot about lately.
Great quote, Susan. I need to see about getting a copy of the book. It looks like it would be a good one to read.
Your post reminds me of the saying, "You're the only Bible some people read."
Oh! Susan,
How true and something I am really trying to do in my life. Thank you for sharing.

This is so true Susan ... thanks for the reminder!
I enjoy JR Miller's writings and am glad that they are freely available in their totality online :o)
Blessings to you as you adjust to being *at home*!
This is a good reminder. We're preaching a sermon, whether it's scripted, or not.
You always choose the nicest pictures! I especially like this one!
Have a great week!
Susan
